Taylor Swift’s fans have been issued a series of warnings ahead of the star kicking off the U.K. leg of her tour in Edinburgh, Scotland, on June 7.
The pop icon, 34, embarked on The Eras Tour in March of 2023, performing across the U.S., and in Australia, Asia, Mexico, and South America, before arriving in Europe this summer. Before hitting the halfway point of its 152 shows, the last year became the first ever tour to break the $1 billion barrier.
As Swift gears up for three sold-out shows at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium, the city’s council has dedicated a webpage to providing advice and sharing warnings with the influx of visitors expected over the weekend.
Under the title “Edinburgh gets Taylored,” the council said: “We are delighted that has chosen to bring her tour to our city. We know she and all her loyal Swifties will enjoy true Scottish hospitality and receive a warm welcome to our capital city.”
The City of Edinburgh Council warns fans not to travel to the stadium and its surrounding area without tickets, and to plan ahead in anticipation of busier-than-usual public transport.
The council cautions that nearby Roseburn Park “will be very busy as ticket holders gather before entering the stadium. We will maintain access for local residents. The stage and sound system will also be pointing away from the park.”
“Please remember, on your way to the stadium, you will be passing through streets where people live,” the website reads. “Please respect their homes.”
Those gathering at Roseburn Park have been told, among other things, not to carry barbecues. They have also been informed that “there is no overnight camping allowed” at the public park.
Speaking with Scottish newspaper The Daily Record last year, Pennsylvania-born Swift said of spending time in the country: “Scotland is a really special place for me—last time I was there the crowd were amazing and I felt like we really connected.
“My dad is super proud of our Scottish heritage he told me that pretty much most of our family can be traced back to Scotland so of course it’s obviously very cool for me to get to perform there as part of the tour.”
Swift’s Eras Tour ensemble includes 16 back-up dancers, four vocalists and a dedicated live band. The three-and-a-half hour show features 44 songs across 10 acts, with each “era” inspired by a different album and time in the singer’s life. However, the set list was recently updated following the release of her 11th studio album, (TTPD), in April.
Within hours of its release, TTPD smashed streaming records, including becoming Spotify’s most-streamed album in one day, with 300 million streams in 24 hours, the platform revealed on its social media accounts.
The album recently claimed the top spot on the Billboard 200 album charts for the . It is the first album to do since Morgan Wallen’s One Thing at a Time was on top for its first 12 weeks, between March 18 and June 3, 2023. TTPD is also the sixth album of Swift’s to reach No. 1 on the album charts.
In May, Swift had several nights of sold out performances at . She then performed in the French city of Lyon after hitting the stage in Sweden, , and Portugal. The Grammy winner’s will include stops in Liverpool, Cardiff and London, before heading to Ireland on June 28.
After completing the European leg of her tour in August, Swift will make a few appearances in American cities, including Miami, New Orleans and Indianapolis. She is scheduled to end her tour in Canada, with multiple shows in November and December. The tour is currently scheduled to conclude on December 8 in Vancouver, five days before her 35th birthday on December 13.
