Quoted by The Telegraph, Martin Porter, an attorney for the Kingston family, said they had been “advised that there could be a connection” between a recent new prescription and his death.
He added that he was referencing “Mr Kingston’s state of mind and whether that state of mind was affected by medication he had taken.”
Katy Skerrett, senior coroner for Gloucestershire, said the medication “should be part of the scope,” but added: “I do caveat strongly that whether a causative link will be established is a very different matter.”
The court heard that Kingston had lunch with his parents on the day he died and was found by his father, Martin, in an outbuilding at their home.
Kingston was a close friend of Princess Kate’s sister Pippa Matthews and it’s believed they dated in 2011.
The tragedy came during a period of heightened social media speculation about Princess Kate, around the time she privately began chemotherapy for cancer, though the public would not find out until weeks later.
At the time, X and other social media platforms were full of posts tagged: “Where is ?” and some celebrities joined in.
It all followed a long period out of the public eye, with no photographs of the princess, following abdominal surgery in January.
In the fullness of time, Kate announced she had been diagnosed with cancer and began chemotherapy in late February, largely putting an end to weeks of rumor and gossip.
Two days after Kingston’s death, Buckingham Palace released an announcement: “It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the death of Thomas Kingston, our beloved husband, son and brother.
“Tom was an exceptional man who lit up the lives of all who knew him. His death has come as a great shock to the whole family and we ask you to respect our privacy as we mourn his passing.”
