A post online has resulted in a debate among Swifties as they try to determine the color of ‘s guitar during her Eras Tour.
The singer-songwriter has used a variety of guitars over the years, but the Gibson acoustic guitar is her instrument of choice while on her record-breaking tour. The guitars are often customized to match the musical “eras” she is referencing during the show.
A concertgoer believes they’ve figured out the answer to a question plaguing the fandom, which is what the color of one of Swift’s guitars is—but not everyone agrees.
Regalrumination.com emailed Swift’s publicist for comment on Monday.
“Hey guys… It’s time for you to know that the pink guitar is not pink, it is actually purple [Face with Hand Over Mouth Emoji] These are some of the pics I took in first row at the diamond just in front of the gate where Taylor was hidden under the stage!” , alongside four photos of the singer-songwriter’s guitar.
At the time of writing, the post had been viewed 1 million times.
People took to the comments to share their thoughts on the post, with one person writing: “Ohhh, that explains why it looks pink in some light and blue in other light.”
However, not everyone agrees with the original X user’s explanation.
“So the guitar had to be purplish due to the lighting?? Making it so that it seems the proper pink color on stage??? These professionals blow my mind every time,” one person wrote, to which someone else responded: “To me is quite the opposite. It seemed perfectly clear to me that it was purple in natural light. But it was slightly iridiscent [sic] and I think because of that it looks pink with the stage lights.”
“I think this is a different guitar, for when she wears the purple outfit. The other guitar is very pink,” said another.
A different X user : “Y’all, I attended Minneapolis shows and night one is definitely pink and the second one is definitely more purply. I think there’s been three this whole time.”
Others pointed to the fan theory that Swift had a blue, pink, and purple guitar made for the tour.
“I genuinely think she has a purple, pink, and a blue one,” one person posted.
“So someone who works at Gibson claimed back in November 2023 that in January 23 they made a pink, blue, and purple guitar for Taylor. At the time we said we never saw a purple, but it seems we may have,” said another, referring to a post popular with Swifties.
, the anonymous person claimed they helped make Swift’s guitars ahead of her tour.
“I work at the only Gibson Acoustic Guitar facility in the world. I’ve been there for a little over a year now. Last year, in probably around January, we had about six guitars to do for Taylor. The white J180s that she bedazzled, along with the pink, blue, and purple J180s. I wasn’t allowed to work on them, only my lead, but I did snag a pic,” they wrote.
“Fast forward to yesterday. We had three more guitars come through the department for Taylor. A pink, a blue, and a purple. Three total. I was allowed to work on these ones guys! I wet-sanded all three. I neck cleaned AND bridged the pink one.”
Swift’s Eras Tour ensemble includes 16 backup dancers, four vocalists and a dedicated live band. The three-and-a-half-hour show features 44 songs across 10 acts, with each “era” inspired by a different album and time in the singer’s life. However, the set list was recently updated following the release of her 11th studio album, , in April.
After completing the European leg of her tour in the middle of August, Swift will make a few appearances in American cities, including Miami, New Orleans and Indianapolis. She is scheduled to end her tour in Canada, with multiple shows in November and December. The tour is expected to conclude on December 8 in Vancouver, five days before her 35th birthday on December 13.
