Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could soon be facing financial turmoil as Netflix looks set to cut them loose. The couple’s deal with the streaming giant runs out in 2025, and early indications suggest there will be no renewal.
In 2020, the Sussexes chose to step back from being senior working royals. The pair then relocated to America and started building their personal brands independent of the monarchy. One of their initial agreements was with Netflix, where the Sussexes signed a multi-million dollar contract set to expire in 2025. However, concerns about whether the streaming giant will renew the contract are beginning to surface.
Royal commentator and expert Richard Fitzwilliams told The Mirror, “It runs out next year, and Netflix is no longer producing the series ‘The Crown’ as they previously were. They might therefore have less interest in the Sussexes.
If they lost this contract, with their business and charitable foundation having so few donors, they might well be in financial trouble. Since their exposes of royal life have made mega bucks, but little else has made money, the royal family better hope that this unpredictable and ruthlessly ambitious couple stays with Netflix.”
The Sussexes are currently committed to their Netflix contract with two projects in progress. Harry is reportedly developing a TV show centered around polo and his passion for the sport, while Meghan is concentrating on a cookery and gardening show.
Meghan’s lifestyle program is expected to align with her upcoming brand, American Riviera Orchard, which is yet to be launched. The Duchess of Sussex unveiled her brand in March, intriguing the public with a fresh Instagram account, logo, and promotional trailer.
Prince Harry has been branded a hypocrite for not letting his children spend time with his cousins in the UK. That is the view of an American journalist who lambasted the Duke of Sussex for not bringing Archie and Lilibet to their home country since 2022.
Two-year-old Princess Lilibet has only visited the UK once for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022, and the King’s other grandson Archie hasn’t been to England since either.
Harry recently visited the UK for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games and also visited earlier in the year when it was revealed that his father had been diagnosed with cancer. Speaking to GBN America, US journalist Lee Cohen said, “It is sad to imagine grandchildren not seeing their grandparents.
You want to imagine that Harry has been sincere in his overtures to see his father during his health challenges and that he sincerely cares that his children will know their family and their heritage through Harry.
Who but an arch hypocrite expresses love for and yearning to see family while shockingly betraying and attacking them? Family doesn’t seem important to Harry and his wife, who have both earned strained relationships for themselves and by extension their children on both sides of the Atlantic. And once again, the hypocrisy, narcissism, and self-interest are front and center with all of this behavior rather than seemingly any caring for family or attachment to family.”
Harry reportedly pleaded with Meghan Markle to come with him to the UK for the Invictus Games ceremony. An insider told New Magazine, “It’s now got to the point where Meghan doesn’t want to come to the UK with the children; she just doesn’t feel safe. The situation is now about whether the family should attend with increased security or Harry should go it alone.” The source added, “Harry doesn’t want to keep making solo trips to the UK.”
