It seems Prince William has finally relented to the wishes of his better half, Kate Middleton. Despite the Prince of Wales’ initial desire for young Prince George to spend the day with his mother, Kate reportedly insisted that her football-loving husband take their son along to witness the epic FA Cup clash between Manchester United and Manchester City.
“William and George are both big fans of the sport, and Kate knew they would have a wonderful time together at the match,” a royal insider divulged. “Plus, she felt it was important for George to get that special one-on-one time with his dad.” The source also noted that the youngest Cambridge had been eager for his mum to join them.
In the end, the palace confirmed William’s attendance at the game, though they initially neglected to mention that the 10-year-old prince would be accompanying him. But when the cameras captured the father-son duo excitedly watching the fierce rivalry unfold from the royal box, it was clear George had gotten his wish.
Looking dashing in a dark suit and tie, William appeared the picture of proud paternity as he shared the experience with his heir-apparent, who was equally smartly turned out. The pair, known to be ardent supporters of Aston Villa, had also attended their team’s Europa Conference League quarter-final match just last month.
With his 11th birthday just around the corner in July, one wonders if Prince George’s next major outing will be his first day at the prestigious Eton College – the esteemed alma mater of both his father and uncle, Prince Harry.
