Kate Middleton is reportedly “heartbroken” that Prince William wants to send Prince George to Eton College, as it goes against the Firm’s efforts to “modernise the monarchy” – and we want to hear YOUR thoughts.

The Prince and Princess of Wales have allegedly spent hours “arguing” over the decision to send their oldest child to the prestigious secondary school when he turns 13. According to sources, Kate is keen to break away from tradition as she was “horribly bullied” at her first boarding school and “can’t bear the thought” of George suffering the same treatment.

The senior royal attended girls boarding school Downe House in Berkshire, which she reportedly hated and left mid-term. Kate then moved to co-ed boarding school Marlborough College, located in Wiltshire, where she stayed for the rest of her schooling. That’s where she wants George to attend.

Meanwhile, William and Prince Harry both attended Eton College, which differed from the older generation’s tradition of attending the Scottish boarding school Gordonstoun. While William enjoyed his time at Eton, Harry confessed that he does not remember his early days at the world famous college with any particular fondness.

In an interview promoting his tell-all memoir Spare, Harry spoke about how hurt he was when William told him to “pretend we don’t know each other” in school. Speaking to Touch Weekly, a royal insider said: “Kate thinks sending George to such a stuffy, upper-crust institution goes against all of their efforts to modernise the monarchy. Plus, she’ll miss George desperately.”

They added: “Kate long disagreed with her husband about sending him away, even though it’s tradition.” However, it has been reported that Kate has “given in” to William’s wishes and agreed to his education request.

The Prince of Wales started at Eton in 1995 and graduated in 2000. Tuition for the school is £53,398, according to the school’s website. Prince George and his siblings Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis currently attend co-ed prep school, Lambrook in Berkshire.
