Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are being kept in the dark about the health of key members of the royal family, according to a royal commentator.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to be ‘in an informational blackout’ with very little updates about the health of King Charles and the Princess of Wales, after they both revealed their separate cancer diagnosis earlier this year.
It’s thought that when Kate revealed she’d been undergoing treatment for cancer via a video message, that brother-in-law Harry and wife Meghan were only informed as the video aired on March 22.
Speaking to GBN America, Maureen Callahan, the American columnist for the Daily Mail, said: “The only real thing that Meghan Markle and her husband have to merchandise is their connection to the Royal Family, it really is the singular point of interest for either of these people.
“What’s true, that we know, is that Harry and Meghan are now in a complete informational blackout. They have no idea what is going on with the health of Kate. They have really no idea, it seems, what’s going on with the King so she has really nothing to offer.”
When Kate’s health news was made public last month in a moving video, Harry and Meghan shared a brief statement shortly after. They said: “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace.”
However they are reported to have reached out privately, with ITV ‘s royal editor Chris Ship revealing that Prince Harry “reached out to his brother” after learning of Kate’s cancer. Mr Ship also added: “Harry and Meghan have both been in touch with their brother/sister-in-law but did so privately. It not clear if that was a phone/video call or some messages of support.”
Earlier this year when King Charles was diagnosed with cancer, Harry flew to London to see his father but was reportedly only granted a 30 minute meeting with the monarch. The Duke was in the UK less than 72 hours before returning home to Meghan and their two children Archie and Lilibet in Montecito, California.
