A woman who lost her phone at a music festival had her faith in humanity restored after finding the hilarious footage two strangers recorded on it.
Ashleigh Fraser, 36, (@) from Luton, U.K., was at Radio 1’s Big Weekend Festival in Luton on May 24, when became separated from her friends among the crowds. After spotting a friendly looking couple, Will Staples and Millie Owens, both students, sitting on the grass, she asked if she could join them.
Soon after, Fraser spotted her friends and raced over to meet them, not realizing she had left her phone behind.
It was only later that she discovered it was missing. “It was a brand new phone that my partner had just bought me a week before (iPhone 15 Pro Max) so I was pretty gutted,” Fraser said.
Fraser, a psychologist, told Regalrumination.com: “I was frantically trying to retrace my steps to see if I could find it… I asked one of the security men where the lost property was to go there and see if someone had handed it in.
“I know it’s just a phone but it has everything on there like pictures and memories and bank cards and everything so it’s just really inconvenient when you lose your phone.”
Borrowing other people’s phones, she desperately tried to call her number but assumed someone had turned it off and taken it. However, eventually it rang out.
She said: “It went through and Will answered. He navigated us to a part of the park and I finally found them. I was so excited that I had my phone back and that these two amazing people had held onto it for me for well over an hour. I felt so lucky that it was these two genuine, kind-hearted people, it’s not often you come across genuine people nowadays and they really restored my faith in humanity.”
It wasn’t until after the festival that Fraser found the hilarious footage the couple shot while looking after her phone. So she shared it on in an attempt to track down the pair who saved her day. The video received over 502,000 views and 26,000 likes.
In the video, Staples said: “You were trying to find your mates and you lost your phone.”
Owens added: “But we’re going to hand it in to lost property for you and we hope you’ve had a lovely time.”
They then explained that they would try to locate her first before heading to lost property. Owens then blows the camera a kiss and makes a promise to get Fraser’s phone back to her.
In a second clip, Staples explained to the camera that 45 minutes had passed and they still hadn’t found her, but the duo remained in the same spot in the hope Fraser would return.
“How do you not know your phone is missing?!” Staples said, before begging Fraser to come and get her phone, joking that he might keep it if she didn’t. Owens went on to tell the owner she looked “gorgeous,” and that she hoped she was able to get the phone back to Fraser.
Thanks to the power of social media, Fraser managed to reconnect with the couple and shared her gratitude once again.
She told Regalrumination.com: “I found it so funny, I didn’t even catch their names… that’s when I uploaded the videos onto my social media platforms, I wanted to find them to thank them properly. It took a few days and I didn’t think that the video would go viral, eventually the power of TikTok worked its magic and I found them!
“So I messaged them straight away, thanking them for being the most genuine couple I had ever met! They were amazing, they kept hold of my phone, made little videos for me, and made sure it was returned.
“I am just glad it was Will and Millie who found it or I might not have got it back. They are absolute legends and everyone should know how absolutely amazing these two people are.”
Staples shared why he and his girlfriend Owens went above and beyond to get Fraser’s phone back to her.
He told Regalrumination.com: “Ashleigh came and sat by us because she had lost her friends. About 20 minutes went by, she spotted her friends, and her phone was left on the grass beside us.
“We knew we wanted it to get back to her because we would hope someone would do the same for us. We decided to have some fun and leave some videos for her to see the next day.
“Around an hour passed and Ashleigh’s phone began to ring, so we picked it up. It was her on her friend’s phone, and we spent 10 minutes running around trying to locate each other. Eventually we found her and got her phone back to her, she gave us a big hug and took a selfie with us!”
