The Prince of Wales and the dishy Lieutenant Commander Rob Dixon stood side by side to watch the European Championships
Prince William may have delighted royal fans with his animated display while watching the European Championships over the weekend – but there was one member of staff who was equally enthusiastic about England’s win over Switzerland in the match.
The Prince of Wales was enthusiastic, to say the least, as he cheered on the Lions at the tense quarter-final in Germany, roaring with delight as Bukayo Saka scored a late goal for the team to equalise, and Trent Alexander-Arnold won the game with a final penalty kick.
The royal father-of-three, a known football fan, was joined by his dashing equerry Rob Dixon for the match, with the aide sitting just behind the Prince for the game. As William rose to his feet and punched the air with joy, Dixon appeared similarly delighted, echoing the Prince’s delight during the final moments of the game.
Lieutenant Commander Rob Dixon has worked for the royal household since 2020, where his first official title was Royal Equerry to HRH the Duke of Cambridge. After the late Queen died, he became Equerry to HRH the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Prior to joining the royal household, he went to Dr Challoner’s Grammar School in Buckinghamshire, before working for the Royal Navy for 23 years.
Dixon previously joined the Prince and Princess of Wales for a number of poignant occasions, including the funeral of Prince Philip at Windsor Castle and the vigil held for the late Queen in 2022. Apparently a sports fan, he has also been seen alongside William while watching a number of 2023 Rugby World Cup matches.
