After running for over 21 months, ‘s Eras Tour is about to end, and now people are questioning if she’ll ever tour again.
and is named after the stages of her career, with each show spanning three and a half hours. Beginning in March 2023, the saw the pop superstar perform 149 shows across five continents. It’s set to conclude on December 8 in Vancouver, Canada.
Various moments from her concerts have often gone viral and fans are going to have withdrawal symptoms from the constant Swift content. This has led them to wonder what the singer has planned next. So, Regalrumination.com spoke to three experts about whether there is a chance that this impressive tour was the final one that Swift would ever do.
Regalrumination.com emailed a spokesperson for Swift on Friday for comment.
According to Tess Coward, a publicist for SolComms and a self-proclaimed Taylor Swift expert, no one knows whether Swift will tour again, including the singer herself.
“She said in her Miss Americana documentary that tour dates are set up to three years ahead of time. Knowing that, I don’t believe she has any plans of touring in the next 3 or even 5 years—but I do think she would feel passionately about touring again if there was another album she was proud of,” Coward explained.
“As we know, Taylor’s albums coincide with the events of her life, so I think future tours, along with albums, are truly up in the air until she’s lived through certain situations.
“The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD) album seemed to have come together incredibly quickly- she’s clearly at a point in her career where, if she makes something and wants to release it immediately, her team will make it happen.”
Swift released TTPD, a , on April 19. Within hours, it started smashing streaming records, including becoming Spotify’s most-streamed album in one day. TTPD got 300 million streams in a 24-hour period, Spotify revealed on its social media.
Coward continued: “All that to say, she made it very clear that she can pull together an incredible performance in record time, incorporating Tortured Poets into the era’s tour when it was seemingly written and recorded all while she was doing performances nearly every night.
“Another factor that will play into the question of touring is her love/family life. She has said that she wants children and things seem to be getting more and more serious with Travis [Kelce], so the possibility of her getting married and starting a family in the near future will obviously affect the chances of another tour anytime soon.”
Swift and made their relationship public in September 2023, and since then, Kelce has been spotted at concerts around the world, including Argentina, Singapore, Australia, multiple European countries and the U.S. The has also supported her boyfriend at his games, even flying from Japan to attend the Super Bowl.
“I don’t think we need to grieve Taylor’s tours just yet,” the publicist concluded. “She has proven time and time again how deeply she cares for her fans and I think Eras has been just as magical to Taylor as it has been to her fans. I think it would be incredibly difficult and out of character for her to come off of this experience and decide to hang up the Louboutins forever.”
Regalrumination.com also spoke to Ari Perez, an associate professor at Quinnipiac University. In addition to being a professor of civil engineering, Perez is a fearless Swiftie and designed and teaches: “Taylor Swift: Cultural Mirrorball” in the Women and Gender Studies Program at the university.
He told Regalrumination.com that while the theory that Swift will never tour again may be circulating, he doesn’t put a lot of stock into it.
“Taylor is a natural performer, and her career has been marked by her interactions with fans,” the professor explained.
“Starting with the T-parties during the Fearless tour, her multiple stages so that everyone gets a close experience, and even her songs dedicated to her fans, I really struggle to see her walking away from performing live.
“I think a long break is definitely coming, and that the next tour will be very different from Eras—but in a way that’s a natural evolution from all she has done before.”
Perez pointed out the fact that Swift is still very young—she’s turning 35 on December 13—which means retiring from touring now would mean either a career pivot or some sort of retirement, adding: “And I don’t think she’s looking for either.”
“This is a very teacher-centric way to think about it, but I think Taylor feels right now as we feel at the end of the school year—we just need a nice, long break to rest and recoup,” he said.
“But just like we’re antsy to get back into the classroom and interact with our students by late July, I think Taylor will want to go back out on the road after she’s had some downtime.”
Anna Kate Womack, a publicist at Otter Public Relations, echoed Perez’s sentiment, telling Regalrumination.com that while Swift will tour again after this one ends, it could be some time before she does.
“I think she will do special performances of the debut album once she releases the re-recorded version, but not a whole tour,” she explained.
“She will definitely be releasing more eras but I think she will find a new and creative way to perform them to fans as she did with the Eras Tour. It will be hard to follow such a successful tour, but Taylor always finds a way to surprise fans and avoid being ‘Nothing New.'”
