Jessica Simpson’s marriage to Eric Johnson has become he focus of much speculation among fans, after the singer and businesswoman shared a cryptic post on .

Simpson, 44, has been married to former player Johnson, 45, since July 5, 2014. They have three children—Maxwell, 12, Ace, 11, and Birdie, 5. She was previous married to singer and TV host Nick Lachey between 2002 and 2006.

On Monday, Simpson over the state of her current marriage after she took to Instagram to share a carousel of photos that showed her striking a series of posing while wearing an eye-catching black and white ensemble.

Captioning the images, Simpson wrote: “Interviews in my Nashville music room where I unearthed my singular magic. This comeback is personal, it’s an apology to myself for putting up with everything I did not deserve.”

While Simpson did not specify what it was that she had been “putting up with”, a number of Instagram users took it as a statement on her marriage. Regalrumination.com has contacted a representative of Simpson via email for comment.

“Sounds like a breakup album to me!” one fan commented. “It’s always been strange, I felt like something was holding you back.”

“I am guessing she is divorced because she has been cryptic for months,” another said. “Amazing no one can stay with a spouse for better or worse. So sad…”

“Are you talking about your husband?” asked one Instagram user, while another enquired: “Where is Eric? Are y’all still married?”

“Lots of thirst traps lately,” another chimed in, “It’s giving single woman.”

Others opted to back Simpson without expressing belief that her caption indicated a split.

“Hopefully this is her comeback with her husband and children who need her most,” wrote one Instagram user. “Nothing else matters in the end.”

“Ooh watch out world! This is gonna be GOOD!!!! We’re here for you, Jess,” read another comment.

“I just know it’s going to be worth the wait,” another weighed in. “I love you so much and you deserve the world.”

Despite unconfirmed reports of marital strife over the past several months, Simpson in April shared photos that showed her vacationing with Johnson and their children. Johnson has not been posted on Simpson’s Instagram grid in several months.

In September 2023, Simpson posted photos of herself and Johnson as she paid tribute to him on his birthday.

“Eric turned 44 on Sept 15 and his family gave him all the love cells we have to celebrate his life,” she wrote at the time. “My heart is so taken with this Man, I could hardly call it my own….We love youuuu.”

Back in April 2022, she spoke to Us Weekly about her relationship with Johnson.

“I don’t feel like our marriage has been long, but I feel like I’ve loved Eric my whole life,” she said at the time. “I guess in the moment I met him, it felt like a marriage.”

“Eric and I set intentions, and we’re very good at manifesting our dreams” she added. “We’re very good at creating a safe environment for each other to be ourselves.”
