The Division is seeking a qualified Skilled Trades Technician ll – Electrical & HVAC to maintain current occupied multilevel city owned facilities.Candidates must have the ability to utilize appropriate tools in performing electrical and or HVAC duties, read and interpret blueprints and drawings, understand and apply electrical codes, follow written and verbal instructions, work in confined spaces, lift and carry up to 50 lbs., work at considerable heights, climb and work from ladders and scaffolding. Some emergency call back may be required.Minimum Qualifications:
- HS diploma/GED supplemented by specialized training in HVAC, electrical technology, or a related field and two years responsible experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC and electrical systems.
- Candidates must possess a valid Class “C” driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
- Must pass Drug Screen, Physical
Preferred Qualifications:
- Journeyman Electrical License
- Certifications related to the field
- Experience working on multi-level buildings
- HVAC certifications
The Skilled Trades Technician ll – Electrical & HVAC job responsibilities include
- Ability to diagnose electrical problems
- Ability to design electrical circuits and determine load requirements
- Ability to repair HVAC equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment and the like.
- Perform inspections on electrical equipment and predict future failures.
- Respond to miscellaneous service request from office personnel.
- Perform basic plumbing repairs.
- Work with professional vendors and monitor their work performance.
- Work with a group on a daily or periodic basics performing the task listed above.
Physical DemandsHeavy Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.Working ConditionsApplicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class.
