Job description: Primary Function of Position:The Senior Director of Global Trade Compliance will drive the company’s strategy and efforts for compliance with import and export regulations and sanctions in all relevant jurisdictions globally.Roles & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for global trade compliance programs and continuous improvements
- Ensure Company’s compliance with export/import laws for Direct and Indirect Markets
- Oversee restricted parties screening and export licensing programs.
- Collaborate and manage global valuation for customs declarations, working closely with Tax and internal stakeholders.
- Interact with trade-related government agencies in the United States and abroad.
- Develop, maintain, and update internal controls and trade compliance operating procedures.
- Enhance post shipment import/export audit program and KPI development/management.
- Evaluate opportunities to facilitate trade in a cost-effective and compliant manner (e.g., make use of applicable free trade agreements, trade preference programs, etc.)
- Provide strategic guidance on the incorporation of trade compliance requirements into the Company’s business processes.
- Provide compliance training to Company personnel as needed.
- Field all trade compliance questions from employees of the Company.
- Develop and oversee duty management program and compliance with FTAs and other duty preferential programs
Skills, Experience, Education, & Training:
- Minimum 15+ years of international trade experience, focusing primarily on customs and trade.
- 5+ years of experience leading a team or trade compliance program.
- BA / BS degree or equivalent required.
- Working knowledge of tariff classification, country of origin determination and management, and free trade agreements strongly preferred
- Detail oriented and highly organized with ability to multi-task, including a demonstrated ability to drive decision-making in a fast-paced environment with on-demand requests.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver novel and practical solutions to solve complex supply chain / logistics issues.
- Ability to drive complex, cross-functional projects including setting scope, reaching consensus, executing tasks, and presenting results.
- Ability to write, speak, and present effectively and persuasively at all levels.
- Experienced with MS Office, including knowledge of Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Some business travel (~5-10%) will be required.
