Sean Lennon, son of music legend John Lennon, found himself in the spotlight recently after poking fun at Prince Harry’s upcoming memoir. Previously, the country musician had labeled the Duke of Sussex a “buffoon” and humorously suggested renaming Harry’s bombshell memoir, “Spare,” as “Spare Me,” as reported by The Mirror.
After his comments garnered attention, Sean took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to reveal that he had received several death threats. In a candid post on Tuesday, he shared, “I’ve had 3-4 death threats since making fun of Harry’s book title and then later saying it was justified because he’s an idiot and that he and I both deserve to be mocked.” Ending with a wry observation, he remarked, “Yay internet.”
Responding to a fan’s comment about the backlash, Sean admitted, “The pun wasn’t even that great. I had no clue people would notice it even. Not my best work, but my most impactful apparently.”
Another supporter praised Sean’s critique of the book, noting his father’s wit. “Sean, you def have your Dads wit! I love it and totally agree with you regarding your opinion of Harrys book! You have real talent, unlike the people I wont mention…. Blessings!”
