Queen Camilla announced she has canceled an expected appearance at the premiere of Gladiator II as she made her first public appearance since a chest infection.
The 77-year-old queen consort canceled visits last week but was expected to be back in action as early as the weekend to join , and Princess Kate in honoring Britain’s war dead on Remembrance Sunday.
However, her illness has dragged out longer than anticipated leaving her pulling out of the global premiere of Gladiator II, at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square cinema in central London on Wednesday, though aides suggest there is no cause for alarm.

Camilla had been due to meet cast members such as Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington and Connie Nielsen, as well as director Ridley Scott.
She did, however, manage to host a reception for shortlisted authors for this year’s Booker Prize, at Clarence House, on Tuesday, though the timings were shortened in order to reduce the impact on her health.
A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said over the weekend: “Following doctors’ guidance to ensure a full recovery from a seasonal chest infection, and to protect others from any potential risk, Her Majesty will not attend this weekend’s remembrance events.
“While this is a source of great disappointment to the Queen, she will mark the occasion privately at home and hopes to return to public duties early next week.”
Camilla’s chest infection is the latest health blow for the royals after King Charles III was diagnosed with cancer in February and Princess Kate announced in March that she had begun chemotherapy.
Camilla’s attendance at the Gladiator II premiere was announced last week by Buckingham Palace. A press release read: “The King, Patron of the Film and TV Charity, and The Queen will attend the Global Premiere of Gladiator II at the ODEON Luxe Leicester Square, hosted jointly by Pictures and the Film and TV Charity,
“The Global Premiere of Gladiator II will be the 72nd Royal Film Performance delivered by the charity, which marks its 100th anniversary this year.
“Founded in 1924, the Film and TV Charity is dedicated to those who work behind the scenes in the UK’s film, TV, and cinema industries by supporting their mental health and financial wellbeing.
“On arrival, Their Majesties will be greeted by the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London, Colonel Jane Davis, the CEO of the Film and TV Charity, Mr Marcus Ryder, and the charity’s Chair, Ms Claire Tavernier.
“In the cinema, Their Majesties will be introduced to the director of Gladiator II, Sir Ridley Scott, and cast members including Mr Paul Mescal, Mr Denzel Washington, Ms Connie Nielsen and Mr Pedro Pascal.”
