Princess Kate’s bond with a royal relation has gone viral after footage from a high-profile celebration for resurfaced on social-media site .

Kate’s relationships with members of the royal family have been highlighted in recent months. The princess stepped out of the public eye at the beginning of the year to undergo abdominal surgery and, afterward, for Kate were sent by world leaders, celebrities and members of the royal family, including King Charles and Queen Camilla.

On June 15, the princess made her to attend the Trooping the Colour celebrations in London, which was attended by all senior members of the royal family.

One of these members has featured in the newly resurfaced footage, which has gone viral on TikTok, highlighting an affectionate interaction between the two.

Uploaded to the on June 14, footage of Kate and Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, attending a 2016 lunch event after the service of Thanksgiving for Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London has been viewed over 713,000 times, so far.

In the clip, Edward approaches his seat next to Kate, greeting her with a smiling comment, causing both to break into laughter.

The prince is the youngest of ‘s three siblings. Edward was born in 1964 and headed a television production company until 2002, when he took up full-time royal duties on behalf of the monarchy.

In 1999, Edward , a public relations boss from London, and the couple have two children: Lady Louise Windsor, born 2003; and James, Earl of Wessex, born 2007.

To celebrate their marriage, Queen Elizabeth II gave Edward and Sophie the titles of Earl and Countess of Wessex. After the queen’s death in 2022, Charles upgraded their titles to Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. These had formerly been held by the late queen and her husband, Prince Philip.

Since her marriage in 2011, Kate has been photographed interacting with both Edward and Sophie at high-profile events, appearing to have a close relationship with the couple.

In 2022, images of Kate laughing with Sophie in the royal box of the horse-racing event Royal Ascot in Berkshire, England, were widely circulated in the press and on social media.

Captioned “The National Service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul’s Cathedral as part of Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday events in 2016,” the video footage of Kate’s interaction with Edward has received in excess of 42,000 likes on TikTok and over 700 comments, many of which have praised the pair’s apparent bond.

“One can see Prince Edward likes Kate,” wrote one user.

“I think Sophie & Edward are and will be very valuable for Kate & William,” posted another, with a further comment reading: “Prince Edward always makes me feel like he could be my neighbor. Just a good guy.”

Polling conducted by YouGov in Britain on May 1 said Edward is the sixth most-popular royal, coming behind his wife, Sophie, who is fifth. The couple are both behind Kate, who holds the number one spot as the most popular royal in Britain.
