Princess Kate affectionately touching on the back during a royal engagement has caught attention online after the Prince of Wales made a cheeky joke.
The couple visited Wales together for the first time since Kate’s cancer diagnosis and tried their hand at making Welsh cakes in Pontypridd on February 26. And an eagle-eyed royal fan spotted a tender moment between the couple as William was putting on his apron.
A fan posted footage on X and appeared to suggest Kate was being flirtatious as she wrote: “We see you Catherine!👀 The Prince and Princess of Wales today ❤️.”
It came as William jokingly asked: “How dirty can you be? Flour everywhere?”

Why It Matters
Royal fans have long loved spotting moments of P.D.A. between couples, perhaps because they cut through the stage-managed elements of public visits to show relationships in an unfiltered form.
What to Know
The Welsh Cake Shop makes Bara Brith, which is a traditional fruit bread, and the couple got their hands dirty kneading dough.
They also visited Pontypridd Market ahead of Welsh national holiday St David’s Day on Saturday, March 1.
It all comes after storms caused the River Taff to breach its banks, leaving much of the town under water.
Kate has been doing more visits in 2025 after being off work most of the previous year after surgery in January followed by chemotherapy beginning in late February and ending around September.
What People Are Saying
One fan replied to the post, saying: “They are so natural together,” while another said: “Perfect couple!!!!!Absolute adore them and their lovely kids!!!!!”
What Happens Next
Next on the couple’s program was a visit to a garden planted by community volunteers after pervious flooding.
“The Prince and Princess will then visit Meadow Street Community Garden and Woodland, which aims to create a safe and welcoming place where the local community can come together and enjoy the benefits of nature,” Kensington Palace said in a press release.
“The project to create a community garden was established in January 2021, when work began to clear a site that was overgrown and full of debris from flooding.
“Together with Pontypridd Town Council, volunteers rejuvenated the site which is now a vibrant garden and creative space for the local community.”
