Why It Matters
A clip of the moment went newly after eagle-eyed fans spotted her pose and compared her to Princess Diana, who also loved ballet.
The post was liked 128K times and viewed 1.8m times after it was posted with the message: “The similarities omg!!!”
Video footage showed Charlotte’s picture side by side with another of Diana seemingly also adopting a ballet position.
What To Know
Kate let slip that Charlotte is a keen dancer during a visit to a textile mill in Yorkshire, England, in September 2023, when she found herself talking to seven-year-old Emily May Catto.
“My daughter Charlotte likes dancing, she loves ballet and tap,” Kate said. “Keep up the dancing.”
Princess Diana was also famously keen on ballet and her former teacher Anne Allan published a memoir last year in which she included some of the letters Diana sent her.
One, dated August 1988, read: “I couldn’t be more thrilled with the video and how I laugh every time I see the credits!
“It was a wonderful opportunity for me to have the dance filmed and now it’s on record!
“Needless to say, I see a lot of mistakes as do William and Harry who have great enjoyment pointing out mummy with her head down or ‘why aren’t you smiling!'”
Allan wrote: “Our last class together began in the same way that our first class had begun, with the warm-up.
“The lady that stood across from me these many years later stood tall, her head beautifully poised, shoulders down and relaxed; she was filled with a serene confidence that gave me great joy. She now looked me straight in the eye, her eyes shining.”
“I was leaving a very different lady to the very innocent one I had first met,” she continued. “I had enjoyed the privilege of witnessing eight years of growth in Diana.
“At times her challenges were daunting but she had found the courage to overcome so many of them.”
What People Are Saying
One fan replied to the video saying: “Her eyes like queen but her smile and mouth just like Diana.”
A second thought that “Charlotte is the exact copy of her [Diana]” while a third wrote simply: “Reincarnation.”
Another wrote: “God bless you and your family .”
What Happens Next
Princess Charlotte will no doubt have many opportunities to continue learning ballet and dance and can at some point decide for herself how far she wants to take her hobby.
