The Princess of Wales was deeply moved to tears by Queen Elizabeth’s final gift before her passing. The gift, a special diamond set that included a necklace and coronation earrings, was a significant token of their cherished relationship. 

Queen Elizabeth and Princess Catherine had a remarkable bond that lasted until the Queen’s death. During key anniversaries, the Queen often bestowed valuable gifts upon Catherine, with the last being this particularly meaningful one.

According to The Daily Mirror, Queen Elizabeth granted permission for Princess Catherine and Prince William to host a joint 40th birthday celebration at one of her prestigious royal residences. 

To mark this special occasion, the late monarch displayed extraordinary generosity by presenting Catherine with jewels from her personal collection. A source revealed that Her Majesty’s gift included some of her most cherished jewels, which Catherine will likely wear on special occasions in the future.

Among these treasures was a diamond set that moved Catherine to tears—the coronation necklace and earrings. This gift was especially poignant because the Queen had requested a private conversation with Catherine.

 During this conversation, the Queen asked Catherine to promise she would wear the coronation set when Prince William is crowned. The necklace and earrings, part of the Crown’s possessions and worn by multiple generations of queens during their coronation ceremonies, were passed down as a treasured heirloom from Queen Elizabeth.

The set held deep sentimental value. Queen Elizabeth wore it during her own coronation, as did her mother, the Queen Mother, and her grandmother, Queen Mary, when their husbands ascended to the throne. 

The Queen believed it was fitting for Catherine, the next Queen, to wear this historic set. She told Catherine that it was only right for her to be the next to don it.

In return, Princess Catherine had also given the Queen thoughtful gifts, including a heartfelt homemade present for Christmas. Catherine and Queen Elizabeth formed a strong bond when she joined the Royal Family, looking up to the monarch for inspiration. 

Since marrying Prince William, the heir to the British throne, in 2011, Catherine has grown into her role as a senior royal and has become a positive presence for her grandmother-in-law.
