Sometimes he takes his role as the heir to the throne very seriously, and other times he lets loose and reveals his sense of humour.
There have been many goofy and playful moments with Prince William over the years.
From the time he swung on a swing in Princess Kate’s wildlife garden at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2019 to sitting down cross-legged with the children during a school visit in 2022.
William often gets stuck in and lets his lively personality out during engagements and with his family.
The Prince of Wales even grabbed a microphone and sang with American star Taylor Swift and Bon Jovi on one occasion.
In another moment of fun, William enthusiastically played ping pong and got hit by the ball.
Dancing at Swift’s Era’s Tour in June was another occasion the Prince let his hair down and enjoyed himself.

Swinging with the kids
William showed his playful side back in 2019 when visiting Kate’s woodland wilderness garden display at the Royal Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Flower Show.
The project, aimed to encourage children to spend more time outdoors, certainly brought out the Prince’s inner child and he couldn’t resist playing with the fun surroundings himself.
At one point, while Prince George and Princess Charlotte climbed into the tree house, William hopped onto the swing and had a go himself.
He could be heard saying: ‘Give me a push!’ before excitedly calling out ‘Whey’ as he swung back and forth.

Back to school
The royal showed off his fatherly, down-to-earth nature back in 2022 when he visited St John’s Primary School in Port Glasgow with Kate.
During the engagement, he joined the children on the floor and sat cross-legged to join in with a Roots of Empathy session which involved pupils interacting with a mother and her young baby.
At one point he could be seen comically shuffling backwards as he tried to fit in between the school pupils.

Piping cupcakes
The Prince of Wales got stuck in with decorating cupcakes for a tea party marking the NHS’s 75th anniversary in 2023.
Wearing an apron, both he and Kate piped blue buttercream on the treats at St Thomas’ Hospital in London.
The royal was slightly more heavy-handed than his keen baker wife as he piped on a generous helping of icing.
William held up his finished cupcake and asked: ‘Is that good?’ to which someone replied: ‘Yes, perfect!’ provoking a proud grin from the Prince.
However, it got a laugh from Kate who proceeded to loudly giggle at her husband’s decorating and put her hand over her mouth.

Ping pong
William and Kate showed their competitive nature during a visit to the Dracaena Centre in Cornwall.
The pair got stuck in with a game of ping pong and at one point, the ball flew towards William and hit his neck.
He initially looked shocked before laughing and leaping backwards, attempting to hit the ball back.

William on YouTube
Back in 2021, William and Kate launched their own YouTube channel called, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Their first upload was a short introductory video, and despite only being 25-seconds long, the Prince’s sense of humour still managed to feature.
The clip started with the couple sitting on a sofa in Anmer Hall, Norfolk, with William turning to Kate to say: ‘By the way you need to be careful what you say now because these guys are filming everything.’
Kate laughed and the flashy video went on to show various clips from engagements over the years.

Tennis
Even in Kate’s health update video that she released in September, William’s playful nature managed to shine through.
In a clip of the family walking through a woodland area, the Prince could be seen bouncing a tennis ball on a racket as his children stroll ahead.
The video featured several shots of William and Kate playing with their children and having fun.
Kate revealed she had finished a course of ‘preventative chemotherapy’ following her cancer diagnosis earlier in the year.
Parachute game
William’s playful side was also shown in 2013 during a Diana Award ‘Inspire Day’ event at the Haven Point leisure centre in South Shields.
He joined in with a parachute game and even ran underneath it to the other side during the activity.

Singing with Taylor Swift
Aside from playing games, William also seems to like to sing and isn’t afraid to grab a microphone and stand on stage.
In 2013 he did just that and spontaneously joined Anti Hero singer Taylor Swift and Bon Jovi at charity event in London.
The unlikely trio sang a rendition of Livin’ On A Prayer, with William even playing the air guitar before giving his band-mates high fives.
According to event organisers, the performance, at the Winter Whites Gala evening at Kensington Palace, was totally impromptu.
Ms Swift gave a speech during the evening during which she mentioned the then-Duke of Cambridge.
She said: ‘I’m Taylor, it is very nice to meet you, especially under these circumstances. It is my first time playing at Kensington Palace or any other palace for that matter.
‘I have to thank you, Prince William, for having me. It’s amazing.
‘To call attention to this age group especially, teens and young adults.’
Later describing her meeting with Prince William, she laughed: ‘He was very funny. I was really happy he was funny.’
Table football
In 2023, William enthusiastically played table football with the Lionesses at their training ground in Burton-upon-Trent.
The Prince, who is president of the FA, quickly spun the rods as the players passed the ball across the table.
He seemed to enjoy the game and tipped his head back to laugh after someone scored a goal.

Exercise bike
The Prince’s playful competitive streak came out when he went head to head against his wife on exercise bikes during a visit to South Wales in 2023.
He was filmed furiously pedalling during the 45-second race and Kate even asked if she could turn the bike’s resistance up and ‘make it harder’.
Despite William’s best efforts, Kate won the competition and was awarded with a small trophy.

Dancing with Kate
William’s musical side also shone through in 2012 during his royal tour of Tuvalu with Kate.
Wearing a grass skirt and garland, the Prince and his wife got stuck in with the traditional dancing, known as Fatele.
He was filmed swinging his hips and holding his hands in the air during a fun-filled evening of dancing and celebration.
According to Kate at the time, William had been practising his dance moves in secret at Kensington Palace in anticipation of being asked to join the islanders.

The Era’s Tour
When Ms Swift came to London in June 2024, the Prince of Wales used the occasion to celebrate his 40th birthday at her concert.
He was spotted dancing enthusiastically to ‘Shake it Off’ and other songs in Wembley Stadium.
William even met the superstar and her boyfriend, NFL player Travis Kelce, with George and Charlotte.
They took a selfie together and William can be seen grinning with his two children.
