A video of looking “so happy” to have Princess Kate at his side during a royal engagement has gone viral over the future king’s “clingy” PDA.
The Prince and Princess of Wales have rarely been seen in public together in 2024 after Kate stepped back from royal duties following abdominal surgery and chemotherapy.
One event they did attend was the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall, in London, on November 9, and, during a meet-and-greet, William was filmed giving Kate a reassuring touch on the back.
One picked up on William’s “clingy” gesture and said it showed he was happy to have Kate back by his side.
The clip was liked over 48,500 times and viewed more than 462,000 times after it was posted with the message proclaiming William the “King Simp.”
And the onscreen caption read: “Can’t get over their recent appearance. The back touches were in full effect. I missed them y’all.” It added that William’s hand was glued to Kate’s back and that he’s so happy to have her once again at his side.
The video begins with a clip of William and Kate during a walkabout on The Mall, by Buckingham Palace, in London, on May 5, 2023, one day before ‘s coronation. And the prince can be seen appearing to point out the edge of the curb to Kate to ensure she does not trip.
There is then footage of William holding an umbrella for her during an event marking the centenary of the Battle of the Somme at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission Thiepval Memorial, in France, on July 1, 2016.
The edit then cuts to footage of them at the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance, at the Royal Albert Hall, London, last month.
Kate had abdominal surgery at The London Clinic in January before later being told by doctors that “cancer had been present,” she said in a video message in March.
In late February, Kate began what she described as preventive chemotherapy, which is thought to have continued for around six months.
In September, in which she said: “As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed
my chemotherapy treatment.
“The last nine months for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.
“The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you,” Kate added.
“With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and, with that, a new perspective on everything.”
Kate has still not returned to work full time but will be out in public with William and their children, , and , on December 6 for Together at Christmas, her annual carol concert at Westminster Abbey, London.
