A sweet conversation between Prince William and a young schoolboy has emerged from his visit to Liverpool last month.
The Prince of Wales, 42, visited St Nicholas Catholic Academy in the city centre last month, where he met and chatted to a group of year 5 students.
Among them was young Mohammed, who was very curious to meet a member of the royal family and didn’t hesitate to ask the prince his burgeoning questions.
In footage since shared by the school on social media, Mohammed was quick to start a conversation with Prince William, who was walking past with the teacher.
Not wasting time and getting straight to the point, Mohammed asked William: ‘Are you the king?’
William was praised for his simple but sweet response, as he explained clearly: ‘No I’m not, I’m his son! What’s your name?’
He then took an interest in getting to know the young boy, telling him, ‘Nice to see you! You had a good day at school?’
The pair then took a selfie together, with Mohammed taking the lead and getting William to say ‘cheese’ for the picture.

St Nicholas’ Academy took to X/Twitter to share the moment, writing in a social media post: ‘Something to brighten up your day!!! So… one of our amazing year 5 Children managed to not only have a chat with Prince William, he also managed to get a selfie!’
Royal fans were quick to gush over the interaction, commenting: ‘The first video is absolutely adorable!!! Our Prince of Wales is just the best and I’m sure the lucky little kids and everyone else will never forget meeting the future King’;
‘Love William – just so chill and at ease with the kids!’;
‘Their relationship is so wholesome’;
‘Love how Prince William simply answered “No I’m not, I’m his son” when the little boy asked him if he is The King.’
The sweet moment is believed to have been part of William’s visit to Merseyside last month, where he also met a group of primary school children at Tiber’s Young People’s Steering Group in Toxteth.
Later that day, he took part in a football match with the students from English Martyrs Catholic Primary School and Princes Primary School, showing off his sporting skills.
He also visited Cycle of Life, a non-profit cycling organisation, supported by BBC Children in Need, which works to help young people from diverse backgrounds improve their physical and mental health, as well as boost their employment opportunities.

Ultimate Royal Multitasker! A look back at Wills’ very active duties
It comes after William skipped the annual Baftas to spend time with his family in the exclusive Caribbean paradise of Mustique, as revealed by the Mail on Sunday.
Prince William, Kate and their children flew to the privately owned island on Thursday, days after Kensington Palace announced that the couple would not be at the star-studded ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall.
Instead, the family will be on their second holiday in as many months following a New Year ski break.
They are all believed to have flown business class on the same British Airways flight – the protocol that heirs to the throne fly separately having been relaxed in recent years.
A source says they flew to Saint Lucia before taking a private flight to Mustique, which was famously the favourite hideaway of the late Princess Margaret as well as a beloved escape for A-list celebrities.
Bafta insiders had originally hoped William and Kate would make a show-stopping joint appearance, marking a glorious return to the red carpet for Kate, 43.
William, 42, attended the ceremony last year without Kate, but he has not attended in two consecutive years since becoming president in 2010.
Kensington Palace were previously approached for comment.
William and Kate marked Valentine’s Day last Friday with a sweet post on social media, accompanied by a simple red heart.

Just hours later, Meghan Markle shared her own tribute to Prince Harry, alongside a post of them kissing after eating burgers and fish and chips.
The Wales’s photo, set against a stunning woodland backdrop, was taken from the Princess’s deeply emotive video released in September in which she announced she had completed chemotherapy.
It was filmed in the grounds of the Sandringham Estate during the summer, where the Prince and Princess recuperated as a family with their children George, 10, Charlotte, nine, and Louis, six.
The photo was posted on the Prince and Princess’s social media accounts with a simple heart to mark the couple’s enduring love – especially after a ‘brutal’ year, in William’s own words.
The Prince described his horror year at the end of 2024 during a visit to South Africa for the Earthshot Prize, saying: ‘It’s probably been the hardest year in my life.’
It was an ‘annus horribilis’ for the Wales family as the Princess received preventative chemotherapy after cancerous cells had been discovered in her body during an abdominal operation in January 2024.
At the same time, it was revealed that William’s father King Charles was receiving cancer treatment.
Since Kate has gone into remission, she is making a slow and steady return to public duties; and at times, the couple have revealed a more intimate glimpse into their deep affection for one another.
On Kate’s birthday in January, the Prince of Wales wrote a heartfelt, public message for his wife.

The message, a rare public declaration of love for the somewhat stoic and reserved public figures, read: ‘To the most incredible wife and mother. The strength you’ve shown over the last year has been remarkable. George, Charlotte, Louis and I are so proud of you. Happy Birthday, Catherine. We love you. W.’
The message was shared with a previously unseen photo of Kate, taken by Matt Porteous in Windsor last summer.
The black and white image shows the Princess relaxed at home, in jeans, a blazer and checked scarf.
She posed with her hands in her pocket – showing off her dazzling engagement ring – while wearing her hair in a gentle wave.
A personal message – and unseen photo – was also an unusual thing for the Royal Family to do for a non-major birthday.
