Prince William and Prince Harry are mourning the death of a bodyguard to who escorted her coffin.
Graham Craker, 77, a retired Metropolitan Police royal protection officer, was a passenger in the hearse that took Diana from her Westminster Abbey funeral to her final resting place, at Althorp, the Spencer family estate.
He was also at Balmoral when William and Harry learned that their mother had died and said in an interview that his most emotional memory was seeing William the morning after her death.
His , which runs a creative center in Ware, Hertfordshire, in a post on April 3: “Today it is with much sadness that we must share that our friend and colleague, Graham Craker, has sadly died.”

What Prince Harry Said About Graham “Crackers” Craker in Spare
wrote about the fondness both he and William had for “Crackers” in a passage of his book Spare that described the bodyguard’s role at Diana’s funeral.
“Not only did the hearse go the long way round, it was delayed several times by all the people heaping flowers onto it, blocking the vents and causing the engine to overheat,” he wrote.
“The driver had to keep pulling over so the bodyguard could get out and clear the flowers off the windscreen. The bodyguard was Graham.
“Willy and I liked him a lot. We always called him Crackers, as in Graham Crackers. We thought that was hysterical.”

Craker once described in an interview how he was at Balmoral with and Prince Harry when Diana died and found out about the accident when he called in to the Duty Office at Buckingham Palace.
Quoted by The Sun, he said: “It was disbelief, really, and obviously a great deal of sorrow. You try and deal with it as best you can but you do get quite emotional about it.”
“Perhaps the most emotional was seeing William the morning after,” he added.
“I saw William walking his dog outside, and I walked up to him and said, ‘I’m very, very sorry to hear your bad news.’ William very sadly said, ‘Thank you.'”
Craker joined Diana, William and Harry on a visit to Alton Towers in April 1994 and was later a bodyguard for William, including when he was at Eton.
He was also a guest at William’s wedding to Princess Kate in April 2011 and was honored by , who made him a member of the Royal Victorian Order.

The Southern Maltings Facebook post reads: “He will be remembered for his laugh, his warmth and the way he always just wanted to help people.
“From a career in the police, as a member of the protection squad, a huge driving force in the rotary and eventually a key volunteer at the Southern Maltings, so many people are going to miss our very own James Bond.
“Our broken hearts go out to his family and everyone who knew him. RIP Crackers, we’ll make sure you are remembered behind the bar and will raise a glass for you this evening.”
