All eyes were on little Prince Louis as he took part in the Trooping the Colour celebrations on Saturday. It was a big day for the young royal, not least because his mother Kate, Princess of Wales, made her first public appearance in months.
Kate stepped back from the spotlight in January and later shared her cancer diagnosis. But amid ongoing treatment, she felt well enough to join the rest of the royal family for the annual military event – to the delight of fans worldwide.
Louis is much loved for his excitable expressions and animated reactions; previous Trooping the Colour ceremonies have seen the young royal saluting along with his relatives, chatting to his late great-grandmother the Queen , and covering his ears and mock-screaming during the fly-past.
And this year was no different, with the little Prince showcasing his dance moves, playing with curtain cords, and pretending to fall asleep.
Now a lip reader has shared further insight on Louis’s day – including a sweet moment of concern, which he shared with Princess Charlotte. Royal fans braved a downpour in the capital to watch the Trooping celebrations, with a sea of umbrellas filling the Mall outside Buckingham Palace to catch a glimpse of the royals.
At one point, Louis could be seen remarking to his big sister, “They’re going to get wet!” as he watched the heavy rainfall.
It wasn’t the only interaction between the two siblings. Charlotte often takes charge at royal events when it comes to her two brothers, and the same was true at the Trooping. But Louis was feeling defiant.
Charlotte could be seen telling him: “You have to stop doing that. Watch the parade.” In response, Louis shrugged his shoulders and replied: “I won’t.” “Do as you’re told,” his sister then urged, to which the young Prince simply retorted: “Nope!”
Scene-stealer Louis was also spotted yawning widely and playing with a window blind cord as he watched the military parade.
