Prince Harry wrote a “deeply personal” letter to his father ahead of his return to the UK for Prince Philip’s funeral, at a time when relations were at an all-time low following his Royal exit, a Royal commentator has revealed. As he prepared to face the family he left in 2020, the Duke of Sussex felt compelled to put pen to paper due to a “complete communication breakdown”.

The former Prince of Wales was reportedly deeply wounded by Harry’s bombshell revelations during the notorious Oprah Winfrey interview, especially as it coincided with the Duke of Edinburgh’s critical health condition. Sources close to the Sussexes, now settled in California with their children Archie and Lilibet, suggest that letters have become Harry’s sole means of reaching out to his distant father.

In these poignant letters, it is understood that Harry explained his reasons for stepping back from Royal duties while maintaining his “respect for the institution”. The Oprah interview, where Harry claimed a Royal had raised concerns about the skin colour of his future offspring and expressed feeling “trapped”, has caused considerable distress within the Royal household.

These allegations have led to significant discontent among the senior Royals, who are said to be “outraged” by the assertions. A palace insider stated: “Truth be told, Harry didn’t really know what to expect before he came home, which is why he reached out before seeing everyone.”

“He wrote a deeply personal note to his dad to try and set things straight but tensions are still running high and things haven’t exactly ironed out the way he had hoped. There had been a kind of unspoken agreement between everyone to park whatever has been on each person’s mind, and solely concentrate on supporting the Queen ahead of Prince Philip’s funeral.”

The feeling inside the camp was that it wasn’t the time nor the place to go over things, especially at such an emotional time for everybody involved,” they continued.

A palace insider revealed that Charles was hopeful of reconnecting with his son post-Philip’s funeral, yet Harry communicated that he wouldn’t be staying longer, reports the Mirror.

New reports suggest that there might be a chance for reconciliation as it’s claimed that the Duke of Sussex has extended an olive branch toward his brother William. In a surprise turn of events, Harry supposedly reached out in hopes to “calling a truce” following a series of explosive allegations against the Royal household.

The once-close brothers, Harry and William, have allegedly been locked in a severe rift, with Harry alleging that an argument with William left him genuinely scared.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams has expressed his belief that it would be a mistake for the couple to rejoin the Royal Family, stating: “This would be one of the most bizarre events in royal history if they did return after all the attacks.”
