The fact that Prince William posed for a selfie with Taylor Swift was reportedly not well received by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, a new report claimed.
At Taylor’s concert at Wembley Stadium on June 21, Prince William celebrated his 42nd birthday. Swift was celebrating his birthday, PEOPLE reported. One of the ways in which the “All Too Well” singer paid tribute to the future king was by uploading a selfie on social media with him, his children, Prince George, 10, and Princess Charlotte, 9, as well as her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
The heir apparent shared the selfie on his and Princess Kate’s official Instagram account. The photograph was taken behind the scenes backstage, and all of them were smiling for the camera. On the other hand, according to a source close to Prince William, not everyone who saw the photograph was delighted.
It’s no secret Meghan went out of her way to try and build a relationship with Taylor and got nowhere, so it’s hard for her and Harry not to see this as being a calculated way for William and the royals to undermine them further, it’s certainly rubbing salt in the wound,” an insider shocking revealed to Closer UK.
“They don’t begrudge William taking the kids to her show, it’s not like they’re ranting and raving over that or even saying he shouldn’t have gone. It’s the selfie that’s set them off because it’s just so out of the ordinary for the royals to publicize something like that, even William’s own fans have branded it as shade towards the Sussexes, so it’s understandable Meghan and Harry are feeling the sting and questioning William’s motives,” the informant furthered.
The tipster who made the statement asserted that Prince Harry and Meghan were fans of Taylor and “would love some sort of relationship with her.” The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, on the other hand, supposedly believed that they would be “labeled as [a] cheap copycat” as a result of Prince William disclosing his “big public connection with Taylor.” This was reportedly unfair because both of them had been “self-proclaimed Swifties for such a long time.”
It would appear like Prince William enjoyed Taylor’s performance. During the performance, he was seen dancing to Taylor Swift’s smash song “Shake It Off.” A great number of people were relieved to see the royal father enjoying a good time, particularly because he was going through a lot in the midst of the cancer struggles that his father, King Charles, and his wife, Princess Kate, were fighting.
The selfie that Prince William and Taylor took together led many people to the conclusion that the pop diva was a member of Team Wales, which is currently engaged in a dispute with the Sussexes, as per Daily Mail. There was a background to the Grammy winner and heir apparent.
Prince William and Taylor had previously performed together with Jon Bon Jovi at a Centrepoint charity event that took place at Kensington Palace in 2013. This was prior to their reunion at her show in the United Kingdom.
