Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Search for a “Normal” Life. It’s been a few years since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back from their royal duties and relocated to California. While they may have left the palace behind, it seems the couple is still holding onto certain aspects of their privileged upbringing – particularly when it comes to their children’s education.
According to royal author Tom Quinn, Harry and Meghan are adamant about sending their kids, Archie and Lilibet, to top-tier private schools, despite their stated desire for a more “normal” life. “Lily is lined up for a $60,000-a-year private school,” Quinn revealed to The Mirror. “Early on, there were rumors that Meghan and Harry might send their children to a local state school, but that was never really on the cards.”
The reason? Harry, it seems, won’t compromise when it comes to his children’s education. “Harry wouldn’t countenance risking his children being educated in anything other than an elite environment,” Quinn explained. “Choosing an elite school is very much in the royal family tradition.”
This commitment to upholding certain royal customs is a curious contrast to the couple’s overall mission of forging their own path. While Meghan has reportedly tried to keep their household staff to a minimum, eschewing the typical royal trappings, the decision to enroll their kids in a prestigious private institution suggests some traditions die hard.
“It made it look as if the couple were trying to be as ordinary as possible, but no one was fooled,” Quinn said. Perhaps for Harry and Meghan, maintaining that elite educational pedigree is simply non-negotiable, even as they carve out a new, more private life away from the monarchy.
