During their Royal tour of Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, and Fiji in autumn 2018, Meghan Markle reportedly “turned and hissed” at a staff member which led to the staffer being in “tears”.

Rebecca English from the Daily Mail reported: “I was there at the time and witnessed Meghan turn and ‘hiss’ at a member of her entourage, clearly incandescent with rage about something, and demand to leave.

“I later saw that same – female – highly distressed member of staff sitting in an official car, with tears running down her face. Our eyes met and she lowered hers, humiliation etched on her features.”

According to The Sun, Meghan reportedly got upset because UN Women were present at a market where she asked them not to be. The Duchess of Sussex was then thought to be seen whispering to one of her aides at the market before leaving all of a sudden.

While her lawyers denied the claims that she exited due to the presence of UN Women, a witness defended Meghan saying: “It was very hot and humid in there so perhaps it wasn’t the best environment for a pregnant woman.”

They continued: “After speaking for about a minute she broke off and spoke to the same aide again before she was whisked out of the market very soon after.”

Before Harry and Meghan’s controversial 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Buckingham Palace staff alleged that working for the couple had been “autocratic” and “difficult”, leading to several key employees resigning, reports the Express.

Rebecca English also claimed that the group dubbed themselves as the Sussex Survivors Club, with some even reportedly suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder due to their time working for the Duke and Duchess.

Meghan’s former personal assistant Melissa Touabti, for example, played a crucial role in organising the couple’s wedding in May 2018, but resigned just a few months later. Their private secretary Samantha Cohen also departed her role after several months, despite initially agreeing to continue working for the Royal Family after leaving her position with the late Queen Elizabeth.

In October 2018, Harry and Meghan’s then-communications secretary Jason Knauf sent an email to Simon Case, who was Prince William’s private secretary, saying he was “very concerned” over allegations that the Duchess of Sussex had “bullied” two PAs into leaving their jobs.

However, those on Team Sussex retaliated, arguing that the accusations were part of a calculated smear campaign against Harry and Meghan designed to divert attention away from the Oprah interview.
