Ah, our favorite ginger, our beloved Elizabeth Arden cream-coated todger, Prince Harry. He’s my Royal Zero of the Week. This man was once adored globally, respected, and even had a seat at state banquets. But now, he’s given it all up to let a failed ex-cable TV mattress actress play at being a royal superstar in her own mind. Harry should have been removed from the line of succession after he wrote about wanting to take out his own father in *Spare*, but just spared him at the last moment, obliterating a barn instead. 

Harry’s shown himself to be a snake, a liar, and a security threat to the royal family. I hope they cut him off and that he ends up living in the chicken coop he’s made for himself. He made his bed; he needs to lie in it.

Wow, some very strong words from Megan’s Maul. It looks like Harry might indeed become a zero, as reports suggest he risks being removed from the line of succession—along with Archie and Lilibet. His position, being fifth in line to the throne, is in jeopardy due to his permanent residency outside the UK and his lack of official royal duties. Reports indicate that the royal family summit at Balmoral is discussing the possibility of removing Harry and Meghan’s titles, as well as Archie and Lilibet’s positions in the line of succession.

A source mentioned that the order of succession could be altered by statute if a royal family member permanently resides outside the UK and ceases to undertake royal duties. There’s precedent for this kind of alteration in the succession line, with people moving up or down over the years. 

I do hope these discussions are happening, and I don’t understand why it’s taken so long. When Harry and Meghan decided to step back in 2019, after Queen Elizabeth gave them a one-year grace period and they received an allowance from King Charles, everything should have been put on hold at that time. They decided in March 2020 that they didn’t want to return to royal duties, so their titles should have been suspended then. They chose to be private citizens, so their children should have been taken out of the line of succession until it’s proven they were born of Meghan’s body. Who has ever heard of an American-born child in the British line of succession when no one in the royal family has ever seen them? It’s crazy.

I agree—it’s wild. There’s no precedent for an American in the British line of succession with no visible connection to the royal family. Meghan and Harry have shown a willingness to lie, so why should any documents they provide be taken at face value?

Robert Blackburn, a professor of constitutional law at King’s College London, notes that while living abroad doesn’t automatically disqualify Harry from the line of succession, an act of parliament could still remove him. He mentions that past changes to the succession line have been legislated upon by the British government, not the king.

It seems like there’s a constant ping-pong between Parliament and King Charles with no clear resolution. Does King Charles have any special powers in this situation, or is it just a matter of political maneuvering?

It is indeed strange. I think part of the reason King Charles hasn’t acted is because of the stress it would cause him, especially considering his health. It might be a strategy to prepare the public for when Harry and Meghan’s titles are eventually removed. I suspect that when King William ascends to the throne, he will be the one to handle this issue. William is reportedly done with Harry, so it might fall to him to make these changes.

I do feel for William, who’s had to deal with Harry his whole life. It shouldn’t be left to William to deal with his brother; it’s Charles’s responsibility since Harry is his son. If King Charles doesn’t address this now, it could cause further damage to the monarchy’s reputation. 

Regarding the removal of titles from the royal website, when Harry and Meghan were briefly taken off, it felt like a small victory. Seeing them reinstated so quickly was disappointing. Shouldn’t that be a signal to King Charles that the public wants action?

Definitely. The brief removal was a sign of what people want, and it shows how public opinion could influence royal decisions. It’s frustrating that such actions are not straightforward.

Moving on to my pick for Royal Zero of the Week: Meghan Markle. Victoria Beckham’s new documentary series is in production, and Netflix announced it with a lot of fanfare. In contrast, there was no such announcement for Meghan’s projects. It’s clear that Victoria Beckham is stealing the spotlight, leaving Meghan behind.

It’s also ironic that Meghan wore a Victoria Beckham shirt, only to sweat through it. It’s like a desperate attempt to reconcile with Victoria Beckham, but it only highlights Meghan’s ongoing issues.

Do you think Meghan’s attempt to bridge the gap with Victoria Beckham by wearing her shirt was effective?

Absolutely not. It seems like a clumsy attempt to mend fences, but it only underscores Meghan’s lack of genuine connections with high-profile individuals. The media’s portrayal of them as friends is misleading.
