Job description: Position DescriptionAs the Trade Compliance Manager, your role will be to develop, implement and manage trade compliance procedures. You will manage the company’s import and export compliance activities, assessing risk and implementing procedures as necessary. A focus on specific compliance projects to ensure that due diligence as well as duty and tariff programs meet the company’s legal and compliance strategy. You will manage and lead a team committed to achieving Briggs Supply Chain objectives while maintaining strict
compliance with U.S. government regulations.You will do this by:
- Developing, implementing and maintaining documented procedures for import and export compliance activities
Responsible for conducting audits for import and export activitiesEnsuring that import/export compliance programs are being followed globally along with timely customs reporting and accuracyManaging country of origin trade requirements and regulations complianceIdentifying technical support on issues related to import/export compliance programsMaintaining current knowledge and understanding of export administration regulations, customs regulations, harmonized tariff schedule and company productsPrimary contact for the U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Customs, and oversees freight forwarder and broker processesResponsible for completing Government requests for Customs information (CF-28, CF-29, USITC responses, etc..)Interacting with legal team as regulatory issues dictateProvides training to support trade compliance initiatives and identify opportunities for automation and improvementsKnowledge of Duty Drawback (Manufacturing, Same Condition)Specialized Import provisions knowledge, especially use of 9817 Agricultural Actual Use provisionReview monthly Duty Payment file and Monthly Duty Projection File (use of ACE, ACH, Customs Broker data to assign) with teamStaying informed and reviewing AD/CVD Trade protection cases; Court of International Trade (CIT) Cases/DeterminationsFamiliarity with Canada NRI responsibilities, reviewing product types and CARM Financial obligationsAuditing and analysis of Export, Import, Anti-Boycott, Anti-Bribery, Reconciliation and Foreign vendor tooling assists, valuationsUtilizing ACE Customs Data portal knowledge to file and report company dataReview classification as well as writing Internal Advice Requests/Binding Rulings to CBP when necessaryCollaboration with functional areas (e.g., Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, Logistics, Procurement, Engineering, Customs Brokers, and Freight Forwarders) on remediation and corrective action to mitigate compliance risks or process & control gapsYou are the type of person who is/has:Strong written and verbal communication skills at all levels of leadership and situational awarenessProficient at managing and monitor multiple prioritiesAbility to motivate and manage a teamKnowledge and use of SAP, Google Docs, Microsoft suite toolsDangerous Goods and TSCA knowledgeExcellent customer service skillsFluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or locationImplement, manage, and collaborate on trade compliance programsAbility to influence internal and external partnersTechnical knowledge of customs laws and regulationsSelf-Starter / Ability to work with limited supervisionEducationBachelor’s Degree in International Management or related field, or equivalent education and experienceJuris Doctor from a law school accredited by the American Bar AssociationExperience Requirements
- Minimum of seven years of import and export compliance experience
