A mom who thought she was filming a “cute moment” between her four-year-old son and his stepdad ended up capturing something very different on camera.

Kids can , and often do so because they know it will get a reaction from adults. Dr. Perpetua Kirby, from the University of Sussex in the U.K., has explored the reasons why kids enjoy saying provocative words or phrases.

To her way of thinking, it’s all part of children learning and experimenting with what is and is not appropriate to say. “Playing with words and ideas can be really impressive, hilariously funny, and also shocking and surprising,” she told the . “Using rude words can help to create shared funny moments with others, including adults, that is good for relationships.”

Sara Collins was certainly shocked by her son Beckham’s choice of words during what was supposed to be a sweet moment with his stepdad on the couch. Turning to Collins’ husband, Beckham whispered just four words: “I see dead people.”

To Collins and her partner, the quote immediately brought to mind the Bruce Willis movie The Sixth Sense, in which a young Haley Joel Osment famously utters the aforementioned line.

“His stepdad and I, being millennials growing up with that movie, were immediately freaked out,” Collins told Regalrumination.com. “I was speechless at how what I thought was me capturing a cute moment of the two of them on the couch turned into something so funny.”

They were also alarmed at how a four-year-old might have ended up watching the movie. “We are not scary movie people so we know he hadn’t had access to it,” she said.

Thankfully, that didn’t prove to be the case. “A few minutes after the video and a few questions later Beckham ratted his older brother out for listening to Kendrick Lamar earlier that day, much to our relief,” Collins said.

As any discerning rap music fan of today no doubt knows, the line is actually sampled at the start of the Kendrick Lamar hit “Not Like Us.” Collins said: “His older brother in the background is a fan.”

To people of a certain age, of course, the line would have brought to mind The Sixth Sense. Fortunately, Beckham’s use of the phrase was down to little more than overhearing a song. He wasn’t seeing dead people and he hadn’t watched a movie about dead people.

Regardless of that, Beckham’s confession, coupled with his stepdad’s hilarious reaction, helped the video rack up over 6.8 million views and counting since it was uploaded to under the handle .

Collins is hoping that her son’s newfound viral fame will help shine a light on his current situation. “Beckham is looking for a living kidney donor,” she said. “He was born with autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease. He had both kidneys removed at two weeks old and spent the first 11 months of his life in the PICU at Children’s Mercy in Kansas City. He has been on dialysis since day 2 of life.”

Collins and her family are currently looking for a living donor who has O+ blood type. If anyone is able to help this clever, funny, young boy find the donor he needs, Collins would love to hear from them.
