Buckingham Palace Announces Major Event for King Charles Later This Month. Buckingham Palace has given the green light for another significant royal event for King Charles, following reports of delay due to UK elections.
King Charles is scheduled to attend the annual Garter Day service at Windsor Castle next Monday, June 17. The extravaganza will be marked by a colorful Order of the Garter procession, with senior royals, Knights, and Ladies Companion parading to St George’s Chapel.
Following the service, the King and Queen Camilla, along with other senior royal members, will return to the castle by carriage. The Duchess of Gloucester is in for a special honor as she will be invested into the ancient order of chivalry after years of service.
Prince Andrew will sit out the procession due to his lack of military titles and status as a working royal. However, he is likely to join the King and the rest of his family for the investiture in the castle’s garter throne and the traditional lunch afterwards.
It’s noteworthy that the royal brothers are currently not on good terms amid reports that the Duke is refusing to comply with the monarch’s orders to vacate the Royal Lodge. Prince William’s attendance is still uncertain, while Kate Middleton is not expected to attend due to her ongoing battle with cancer.
The upcoming royal engagement will take place two days after Trooping the Colour, the King’s official birthday parade, during which the monarch will take the salute from a carriage rather than on horseback.
