According to reports, Princess Catherine was deeply distressed by the Duchess’s critical remarks about Princess Charlotte, which only served to widen the gap between them. As an outsider without an aristocratic background joining the royal family, the Duchess of Sussex found herself in a similar scenario to Catherine when she married the Duke. Despite this, rumors have it that the two women struggled to establish a friendship.

There were reports that the Duchess had made Catherine weep during a dispute about bridesmaid outfits in the months leading up to their May 2018 wedding. When tensions deteriorated, the Duke verified that Catherine had sent flowers as an apology, and it was later revealed that the Duchess, not the Duke, had been crying.

According to the Express, author Tom Bower’s book “Revenge: The Duchess, the Duke, and the War Between the Windsors” further fuels the flames by asserting that the Duchess made a derogatory analogy to Catherine’s daughter. Ivy, the daughter of the Duchess and her best friend Jessica Mulroney, was allegedly compared unfavorably to Princess Charlotte. According to anonymous sources included in Bower’s 2022 book, the claims that Catherine was moved to tears in the days leading up to the Sussexes’ wedding day are numerous, and this latest accusation adds to the long list.

According to Mail Online, the book goes on to say that Catherine was tired after giving birth to Prince Louis, her third child, in April, which was just weeks before the wedding. Even though it was suggested by royal custom that the Duchess’s bridesmaids wear tights, the now Princess of Wales was allegedly too fatigued to dispute with the Duchess about the matter. Both the Duchess of Sussex and her then-confidant Jessica Mulroney were firm in their belief that the bridesmaids should not wear tights. Moreover, Catherine allegedly became irritated because she thought Princess Charlotte’s dress was too short and ill-fitting.

“She [Catherine] was upset about something, but she owned it, and she apologized,” the Duchess revealed in her bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, which took place years after the argument had occurred. Flowers were also purchased by her during her wedding preparations.
