hit single “Liar” has earned the top spot on Billboard’s Country Airplay, for a fifth week in a row, which is a first for the superstar.
“This is truly incredible. I want to thank everyone on my promotion team, the label, and to everyone who has listened to ‘Liar’ and this entire Beautifully Broken record. Y’all have changed my life. Ben, Ashley and Taylor, y’all are all incredible — thank you for writing this one with me. Five weeks? This is just unreal,” Jelly Roll said in a statement to .

“I felt like it was important to start the new era of music at the ACMs because we had done ‘Save Me’ there. We launched me and Lainey there. I think that as we’re celebrating ‘Halfway to Hell’ going No. 1, it’s kind of the end of the Whitsitt Chapel era,” he told the outlet. “I don’t even know if we’re going to put ‘Liar’ out. I’m still on the fence about it.”
The track, which was co-written by Jelly Roll, Ben Johnson, Ashley Gorley and Taylor Phillips, is one that is very personal — and vulnerable. While some may listen to the song and think it’s about a failed relationship, the lyrics actually speak to the star’s inner demons.
“I, I let you drive around my mind/ I can’t count the times you made me feel like I’m nothin’/ Played me like a fool/ Like a fool,” the lyrics read. “Sayin’ drink another whiskey/ Pop another pill/ Money makes you happy/ Heaven isn’t real/ You won’t find nobody to love/ Because your heart’s too broke/ Now I know.”
“Liar” is featured on Jelly Roll’s latest album, Beautifully Broken. It debuted at number one on the in October 2024. His previous album, Whitsitt Chapel cracked the Top 10, but only made it to the number three spot.
As far as singles go, Jelly Roll’s hit song “Need a Favor” nabbed the top spot on Billboard’s Country Airplay for four consecutive weeks in 2023 before falling.
