Animal lovers have demanded to know the name of a pub where a Persian cat appeared as part of a traditional Irish music session.
Honey the six-year-old Persian lives in London with her owner, Mati, after the pair moved to the English capital from Spain, and she often joins her owner in exploring the—especially the pub.
“I always have enjoyed to go out with my cats and they love it,” her owner told Regalrumination.com.
While some of her cats enjoy exploring the gardens around her apartment, Honey “likes more to go to the pub,” she said. “Where everybody pays her attention, strokes, treats, even kisses.”
One of Honey’s trips out to the town has proved particularly popular, with over 23,000 views on her owner’s account, @maticobos.
A shared on July 21 shows a number of musicians gathered around the table, playing myriad instruments including the fiddle, accordion and banjo. And in the middle of them all is Honey, who is climbing over the men to get a better look, and sniffing at the instruments.
As one jokingly shouts: “Stop doing that,” Honey is unperturbed and climbs on the accordion to get as close as possible to the traditional Irish music, as other pub-goers take her photo.
Later, Honey sits above the musicians, onto the street, while still taking in the traditional tunes.
Her owner wrote on the video: “When you are too curious.”
And TikTok users were just as curious, with one commenter writing: “I want experiences like this. more humans (and cats) like this in the world please!”
“Nursery rhymes have lied to us. The cat’s completely ignoring the fiddle but very interested in concertina,” another joked.
And some demanded to know more, as one wrote: “A session with a cat??! This is worth a trip to London! When is it on?”
Mati confirmed the brilliant clip was taken in the Hole in the Wall pub in the Waterloo area of London, where there are Irish music sessions each Sunday, and explained to one commenter that Honey wasn’t a “pub cat” who lived at the bar, but her own pet that she brings out with her.
“It’s great fun to go out with her,” she told Regalrumination.com, adding that people always approach her to ask how she trained Honey to be comfortable going out.
But it’s a regular occurrence for Honey, with multiple videos on her TikTok of her in different pubs, including dressed in a Halloween outfit for one night out.
“It’s not new [for her] to go out, as you can see,” Mati said.
like Honey are known for their long, thick and glossy fur, and are generally noted for their independence, according to Purina.
While they are known to prefer a calm, relaxing environment, the breed also enjoys attention, and to watch comings-and-goings—perfect for a day trip to the pub.
