The concerts—which are to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their most famous album, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?—mark Oasis’ first live dates in 16 years, and tickets go on sale on August 31.

There has been a lot of hype over the news of Oasis’ reunion, but eager fans should consider event cancellation insurance in case the brothers don’t perform. This kind of insurance can cover various scenarios, including the nonappearance of performers.

While some concertgoers may not consider insurance necessary, Oasis has canceled various gigs over the years—so it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Oasis canceled several dates on its 1994 U.S. tour, as Noel left after a heated argument with his brother. The following year, the band canceled their performance at Sheffield Arena, with Liam saying he had a sore throat.

In 1996, the band was set to record an episode of MTV Unplugged, but Liam pulled out at the last minute, once again citing a sore throat. While he didn’t perform, he watched the band from a balcony and heckled Noel between songs.

Days later, Liam refused to go on the band’s U.S. tour, leaving his brother to front the shows without him. Liam eventually rejoined the tour but after another turbulent gig, the remaining dates were canceled because of “internal differences.”

Oasis canceled several dates on their 2000 European tour after Noel injured his hand in a fight, and the band canceled their 2002 tour in Japan because of his exhaustion. The band also canceled an appearance at V Festival in August 2009 after Liam contracted laryngitis.

They were scheduled to play at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris a few days later. However, an announcement was made during Bloc Party’s set that Oasis would not be playing because of an altercation between the Gallagher brothers. The altercation ultimately led to the band’s breakup, with Noel releasing a statement on the same day about his decision to leave.

“It’s with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer,” he wrote on August 28, 2009. “Apologies to all the people who bought tickets for the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan.”

In another statement a few days later, he said: “The details are not important and of too great a number to list. But I feel you have the right to know that the level of verbal and violent intimidation towards me, my family, friends and comrades has become intolerable. And the lack of support and understanding from my management and band mates has left me with no other option than to get me cape and seek pastures new.”

Months earlier, Noel infamously said of his brother, “He’s the angriest man you’ll ever meet.”

The remaining members of Oasis, including Liam, continued the band under the name Beady Eye. They put out two studio albums before splitting up in 2014.

Oasis has sold an estimated 75 million albums worldwide, thanks to hits such as “Wonderwall,” “Champagne Supernova” and “Don’t Look Back in Anger.”
