The presidential couple were met at the palace by Queen Elizabeth as well as and Queen Camilla (when they were still Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall).
For the welcome ceremony, Melania Trump wore a striking dress in white with statement navy blue belt and collar details accompanied by a matching hat designed for her by Dolce & Gabbana.

Melania Trump harkened back to the aesthetic of one of America’s most stylish first ladies for the at Buckingham Palace—that of Jacqueline Kennedy who was hosted to a similar dinner in 1961.

For the event, Melania Trump opted for a canary yellow cape accented beneath with a vivid fuchsia long-sleeved dress. The cape was designed by Italian fashion brand Valentino.
