Gwyneth Paltrow swerved the chance to give a verdict on ‘s lifestyle brand in a major sit down interview, but she did drop a hint about how she sees the duchess.
The A-list star sat down with Vanity Fair for a cover interview and was asked about the Duchess of Sussex, who just endured a wave of negative reviews for her cooking show With Love, Meghan.
The series has a tie-in with Meghan’s online shop As Ever, which sells lifestyle products like candles and jam and has been compared to Paltrow’s Goop brand.

“I don’t know Meghan and Harry,” Paltrow told the magazine. “I mean, I’ve met Meghan, who seems really lovely, but I don’t know her at all.”
And in a seemingly wry aside she added: “Maybe I’ll try to get through their security detail and bring them a pie.”
Paltrow was not hostile to Meghan, however, and in fact suggested a desire to defend her, saying when “there’s noise about certain women in the culture, I do have, always, a strong instinct to stand up for them.”
She said she hasn’t seen the Netflix show and passed no comment on whether Meghan’s new direction will be successful: “I was raised to see other women as friends, not foes.
“I think there’s always more than enough to go around. Everybody deserves an attempt at everything that they want to try.”
Beyond her lifestyle brand, Meghan has also launched a podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, due to air on Lemonada Media on April 8.
And Paltrow almost appeared to hint Meghan could have approached her to be a guest.
Meghan’s recent rebrand has been widely described as an attempt to become the next Martha Stewart, who took a swipe at Paltrow in 2014, saying: “She’s a movie star. If she were confident in her acting, she wouldn’t be trying to be Martha Stewart.”
Paltrow said: “And then you have someone like Oprah that’s like, ‘Of course I’ll be your first podcast guest.’ That’s how I try to be with other women.”
While it wasn’t completely clear whether Paltrow actually knows Meghan has a podcast, the actress would certain be an appropriate guest on a show about female bosses as the female founder of Goop.
And the duchess could do with all the help she can get after initial reviews of With Love, Meghan were scathing among progressive American publications as well as the British press.
