Meghan Markle and Gwyneth Paltrow made light of rumors of a rift in a surprise joint video on the Goop-founder’s .

Paltrow was doing a for her Instagram stories when she was asked: “Are you comprehending the beef that social media says you two have?”

“I genuinely do not under this at all whatsoever,” Paltrow said. “Do you understand this?”

The camera then panned to Meghan sitting next to her eating a slice of pie—an apparent reference to a jokey remark Paltrow made about her in a Vanity Fair interview. The duchess gave an exaggerated shrug before stifling a laugh.

One key question though is why Meghan and Paltrow did the joint video? Meghan is about to launch a podcast about female founders, and their presence together could hint that Paltrow is due to become a guest, though that has not been confirmed publicly.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Vanity Fair Interview Mentioning Meghan

Paltrow did a major sit down with the magazine in which she was asked about Meghan’s lifestyle brand, which has been compared to her own Goop.

“I don’t know Meghan and Harry,” she said. “I mean, I’ve met Meghan, who seems really lovely, but I don’t know her at all.”

“Maybe I’ll try to get through their security detail and bring them a pie,” she joked.

More interesting still, Paltrow almost appeared to hint Meghan could have approached her to be a guest after discussing a 2014 incident in which Martha Stewart had dismissed her own lifestyle efforts as an attempt “to be Martha Stewart.”

Paltrow told Vanity Fair: “And then you have someone like Oprah that’s like, ‘Of course I’ll be your first podcast guest.’ That’s how I try to be with other women.”

Meghan’s Confessions of a Female Founder podcast with Lemonada Media drops on April 8.

Elsewhere, some news organizations suggested Paltrow had taken a veiled swipe at Meghan by posting an Instagram video with no make-up.

Page Six ran the headline: “Fans think ‘genuine’ Gwyneth Paltrow is throwing shade at Meghan Markle in new cooking video.”

They quoted a reply that read: “Gwyneth Paltrow continues to throw shade & I’m here for it! No makeup in her actual kitchen!”

Meghan has been criticized for filming her With Love, Meghan cooking show in a rented kitchen, to keep the crew out of her actual home.
