The Princess of Wales recieved an emotional welcome to Wimbledon’s Centre Court this afternoon as she was greeted by a standing ovation from cheering crowds.

Kate stunned in a purple dress as she arrived at the arena with Princess Charlotte, 9, and her sister, Pippa Middleton – marking her second public appearance since the news of her cancer diagnosis. The Princess appeared in high spirits as she greeted crowds and was spotted chatting with sports stars, including Emma Raducanu.

A huge buzz inside SW19 saw crowds gathered in their hundreds, desperate to catch a glimpse of Kate – who twice waved to adoring crowds as arrived at 1.45pm.

She was led over the bridge and into Centre Court moments after she arrived, where she will later hand over the prize to either Novak Djokovic or Carlos Alcaraz who will be playing for the men’s final this afternoon.

Jasmine Berry, 19, and mum Mandy Berry, 50, travelled from Portsmouth for the day and were thrilled to get a glimpse of Kate.

“It was amazing and she looked fabulous,” said Jasmine. “It was lovely to see Charlotte too – they were matching in colour, it was so cute.” Mandy added: “It was just so nice to see her and she’s clearly well enough to be here. Hopefully that means she’s on the road to recovery.”

Kate will be attending today’s final at the Royal Box, frequented by celebrities, sporting royalty and the Royals themselves. It’s a common to spot for both William and Kate, boasting the best seats in the house.

Today’s tournament marks the first time Kate has been seen since Trooping the Colour last month, where she beamed as she waved to the huge crowds with her three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – before emerging on the Buckingham Palace balcony next to her husband Prince William as the pair chatted enthusiastically.

Speaking about her health in a recent update, the Princess said she is “making good progress” but “there are good days and bad days”. She also shared her hopes that she can “join a few public engagements over the summer” while also noting, “I am not out of the woods yet”.
