Billy Joel announced Tuesday that he is postponing four months of his “Billy Joel in Concert” tour due to a “medical condition” with a host of concerts now rescheduled.

At one point during the show, Joel got up from his piano and started playing with the microphone stand while performing “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me.” Toward the end of the song, he grabbed the stand and flung it in the air, but appeared to lose his balance, ending up on the ground.

A few people in the audience shared videos on social media. Some people took to to react to Joel’s fall, with many concerned that he had injured himself.

“Oh my gosh he looks like he was hurt,” one person wrote.

“That fall at the end had me worried. I saw him a couple years ago and he’s still got it.. sounds great and he’s having a great time…maybe just stay on your two feet, Billy,” a third comment read.

“Dangerous fall being 75,” another user weighed in.

What to Know

Tuesday’s statement noted that Joel, 75, “is expected to make a full recovery” and that his tour will resume on July 5, 2025, at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh.

“The current tour will be postponed for four months to allow him to recover from recent surgery and to undergo physical therapy under the supervision of his doctors,” on his page read.

All purchased tickets will automatically be valid for the rescheduled shows.

In his own statement, Joel wrote, “While I regret postponing any shows, my health must come first. I look forward to getting back on stage and sharing the joy of live music with our amazing fans. Thank you for your understanding.”
