Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are “looking for any welcome mat” following their controversial Nigeria tour, it has been claimed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently wrapped up their visit to the African nation in aid of their charity Archewell, and to promote the Invictus Games.

Speaking to GBN America, commentator Maureen Callahan reacted to reports that the royal couple have “also been invited to Ghana”, claiming that they were “cosplaying as royals” during their Nigerian trip.

In a discussion with host Nana Akua, Callahan fumed: “They’re looking for any welcome mat in any nation that may recognise them with the due they believe they’re given.”

Sharing her thoughts on the Sussex’s possible trip to Ghana, Nana recalled her mother’s opinion of Meghan Markle and how Ghanaians feel the Duchess treated the Royal Family.

Nana told GBNA: “My mother says the way she treated the Queen is a disgrace. I know a lot of Ghanaians probably feel the same way, it’s a shocker.”

Callahan agreed, noting: “This kind of treatment of family members, I think it cuts across cultures. It cuts across religions, creeds, and all kinds of boundaries.

“Everyone has an experience with a difficult parent, most people do. But to be digging their heels in this deeply and to be engaged in such bitter snipery… there are larger issues.”

Turning the discussion to the Royal Family, Callahan discussed Princess Kate amid her cancer treatment and recovery.

Praising the Princess of Wales, Callahan said Kate is “so important” to the monarchy, both at present and in the future.

Callahan explained: “Reports were made very recently that Kate Middleton will probably not be making another public appearance this year. The Trooping of the Colour is coming up, Wimbledon is coming up, and she is such a huge presence at Wimbledon.

“These things are proving how important Kate is, not just to the monarchy now, but to the future of the monarchy.”

She continued: “It is she alone, really, who brings the glamour, the star power, but also the dignity, the class, the way she’s comported herself through this incredibly difficult time.

“She and William issuing the statement over the weekend about the RAF pilot who was killed, not putting herself and her struggle front and centre, which I think we can all agree would be the opposite of something a Meghan Markle would do.”

Kensington Palace has confirmed today that the Princess of Wales will not be attending the colonel’s review on June 8, ahead of Trooping the Colour on June 15.

Buckingham Palace has confirmed that King Charles will be in attendance at the event, but will have an adapted appearance and will travel via carriage instead of horseback.
